I'm interested in Empowerment Clubs. How do I get started?
Good Mental Health Clubs for Elementary, Middle and High Schools
What Is an Erika's Lighthouse Empowerment Club?
Erika’s Lighthouse Empowerment Clubs are student-led, school-based clubs that reduce mental health stigma, educate peers, and promote help-seeking and well-being through hands-on Awareness into Action Activities. If your school already has a mental health club, Key Club, or SADD Chapter, you can join the Erika's Lighthouse Affiliate Club Program to access our free resources and connect with a national community of like-minded clubs.
How Do You Start or Join an Empowerment Club?
Any student can start an Erika's Lighthouse Empowerment Club at their school — no prior experience required. Follow these steps to get started:
- Recruit a faculty advisor who agrees to sponsor the club at your school.
- Visit the Start and Manage Your Club page and complete the club registration form.
- Download the Start a Club Guidebook and planning guides to organize your first meeting.
- Launch your club — students lead all activities and set the club's direction from this point forward.
Visit the Start and Manage Your Club page on the Resource Portal for step-by-step guides on launching or growing your club. There you will find planning and implementation guides, as well as a detailed Start a Club Guidebook.
