What is the Tier-1 School Mental Health Assessment and how do we use it?

Districts and schools can evaluate their universal school mental health programs

The Tier-1 Mental Health Assessment provides schools and districts with personalized recommendations to strengthen their universal mental health programming.

The Tier-1 Mental Health Assessment is designed to support schools and districts in evaluating their universal school mental health programs. We recommend that schools identify an individual or small group with knowledge of mental health programming to complete this assessment.

The assessment has questions in the following topic areas:

  • Foundational Core
  • Classroom Education
  • Student Empowerment
  • Family Engagement
  • Policy & Staff Development
  • Schoolwide Campaigns
  • Data Driven Practices

After completing the Assessment, the school professional will receive a formal report with personalized recommendations based on the results. Additionally, the Erika’s Lighthouse Education team is available to consult with any school about those results and recommended next steps.

Any school can complete the Tier-1 Mental Health Assessment, regardless of whether they use Erika’s Lighthouse programming. Completing the Assessment also makes schools eligible for the Peggy Kubert Model School in Mental Health Excellence recognition.
