THE LAW

What is Georgia HB 268?

In 2025, Georgia House Bill 268, also known as "Ricky and Alyssa’s Law", was signed into law. Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the law requires Georgia public schools to:

  • Provide students in grades 6-12 with at least one hour of evidence-based suicide awareness and prevention training each year.
  • Provide the same students with at least one hour of youth violence prevention training each year.
  • Designate a student-led youth violence prevention club in every school that allows student clubs.
