Empowering schools with essential suicide awareness and prevention tools

Erika's Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about mental health, reducing stigma, and preventing suicide. Schools in Florida can leverage free Erika's Lighthouse resources, including classroom programs, educator-created content, and staff training materials, to fulfill state mental health education and suicide prevention mandates.

State Requirements / Best Practice

Florida's Title XLVIII mandates comprehensive health education supporting mental and emotional health as part of required instruction for all students. Additionally, to be certified as a Suicide Prevention Certified School, instructional personnel must complete two hours of approved youth suicide awareness and prevention training every three years.
