Fostering safe school environments with effective suicide prevention resources

Erika's Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about mental health, reducing stigma, and preventing suicide. Schools in Indiana can leverage free Erika's Lighthouse resources, including staff training courses and classroom programs, to fulfill state youth suicide awareness and prevention training mandates.

State Requirements / Best Practice

Indiana Code 20-28-3-6 requires all teachers in grades 5 through 12 to participate in research-based youth suicide awareness and prevention training. Under this mandate, eligible educators must complete two hours of approved training every three school years.
