Empowering Middle and High School Educators with Suicide Risk Training

Erika's Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about mental health, reducing stigma, and preventing suicide. Schools in Rhode Island can leverage free Erika's Lighthouse resources, including student classroom programs, staff training modules, and school-wide awareness materials, to fulfill state suicide prevention and youth mental health mandates.

State Requirements / Best Practice

Rhode Island's Nathan Bruno and Jason Flatt Act of 2021 requires training for teachers, students, and school personnel regarding suicide awareness and prevention. Under this law, each school district must also develop and adopt a comprehensive student suicide prevention policy covering prevention, intervention, and postvention.
