In February 2023, the CDC reported that an alarming 22% of young people said they had seriously considered suicide and stated, “The data make[s] it clear that young people in the US are collectively experiencing a level of distress that calls on all of us to act.” As we approach the end of the year, we are asking you to give a gift today and answer that call.
At Erika’s Lighthouse, we empower school communities through programs that build connectedness, equip students, engage staff and families, and provide upstream solutions. Our free mental health education resources support educators, students, and families to ensure that everyone in a school community has the knowledge and resources they need to help students. Your support is integral to bringing these programs to schools and helping address this crisis.
We partner with schools to bring actionable, impactful programs that schools can immediately use. And thanks to donors like you, all our resources and support are offered entirely free of charge.
We are changing the way schools approach mental health and are increasing mental health equity by removing barriers to implementation. In the 2022-23 school year, 63% of all the schools we partnered with were Title 1 schools. We are on a mission to ensure that every student in every school has access to high-quality mental health education. And you can help make that a reality.
Together, we can empower young people to take ownership of their mental health and encourage help-seeking. As one student told us, “My ability to help someone with depression has changed. I know more signs and symptoms, and I understand what not to do and what to do. I feel like I could really help someone if they needed it.”
Your gift will help a child by ensuring they have access to high-quality mental health education and supportive, trusted adults who can help so they receive care before ever experiencing suicidal ideation.
Please donate now and help bring our free mental health education programs to every school, everywhere, because all students deserve good mental health.
