Illuminating Hope: Why It’s Time to Shine A Light on Depression

Depression thrives in the shadows. It grows in silence, isolation, and the feeling that no one else understands. But at Erika’s Lighthouse, we believe that no young person should ever have to feel alone in their struggle.

We are on a mission to get depression out of the dark, and we need your help to do it.

What is “Shine A Light”?

Shine A Light is our signature DIY fundraising initiative. It is a call to action for anyone who wants to turn their passion, a special occasion, or a personal milestone into a beacon of hope.

The beauty of Shine A Light is its flexibility. You don’t have to wait for a scheduled race or a event; you can create something personal and memorable that fits your life.

  • Celebrate: Turn a birthday, graduation, or wedding into a fundraiser.
  • Get Creative: Host a bake sale, a gaming stream, a neighborhood car wash, or a yoga-thon.
  • Honor: Create an event in memory of a loved one to ensure their legacy helps others.

A Community-Wide Effort

Whether you are a parent, an educator, or a concerned citizen, you play a vital role. Without your advocacy and fundraising, Erika’s Lighthouse wouldn’t exist.

  • For Students: Are you a middle school, high school, or university student? We have a dedicated Student Fundraising Center designed just for you, with tools and ideas to help you lead the charge in your own school.
  • For Those Remembering Loved Ones: If you wish to honor someone lost to suicide or depression, our Light A Beacon site offers a dedicated space for memorials.
